@marxist_theory "On this day 1919, the Hungarian Soviet Republic was declared. It was the second socialist state in the world to be established, only preceded by the Russian Soviet Republic. In the aftermath of World War I and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy collapse, on November 16, independent Hungarian People's Republic was formed. Meanwhile, a communist nucleus led by Bela Kun had been organizing the Party of Communists from Hungary, which was created on November 24. By February 1919, the party had recruited 30,000 to 40,000 members, including many from ethnic minorities, unemployed veterans. Communist party supporters started staging demonstrations, which by February 20 turned violent when the demonstrators protested at the editorial office of the Social Democratic Party of Hungary's official paper. The government violently arrested leaders of the party and closed down the party's buildings. After the massive support of the Hungarian proletariat, on March 1 the party's premises

@this.day.we.fight Regrann from @bodypolitic2018 - More powerful facts from the crucial town hall meeting from Yesterday. Nowhere is this more evident than my current home of Los Angeles. Having lived in LA off and on for the past 15 years I can tell you that the housing problem is beyond an emergency at this point, and even with “ liberals” running the city the problem has gotten worse and worse. As each day passes, our leaders choose to do nothing substantial to help our friends sleeping on the streets and in tents and in their cars. These people are our friends. The ones in power are not your friends. Internet trolls, or fake alt-right nazis or Donald Trump can’t really get me all that mad. But letting our friends sleep on the streets while corporate-liberal fakes do nothing, can get me as mad as a wet hen. @worcestercountyfoodbankBelmont AME Zion Church How’s this for some partnership power and advocacy at work? Maydee Morales of Catholic Charities Food Pantry and Dianne Mann of Loaves and Fishes, two WCFB Partner Agencies in Worcester, testified last night at a community briefing hosted by @raiseupma in support of #fightfor15 and paid family medical leave. Economic security = food security. 🙌🏽
@downhomehaywood Did you enjoy your first day of spring? 🌱 Drop a comment and tell us how you spent your day! ⬇️ . The weather was beautiful yesterday — the perfect weather for knocking on doors and saving lives in the community. 💉 . We took a nice leisurely stroll in the sunshine & distributed Canton’s first round of Naloxone kits. . After that, our jobs group also took advantage of the spring sneak peek and spent the evening petitioning for a living wage in Waynesville. 💸 . All in all, yesterday we were really able to spring forward. One step at a time, we are planting the seeds for the Haywood County that our families deserve. 🌼
@erinmckenzieeSt. Paul's Cathedral, Boston Shocking no one, it took me less than a month since my move to Massachusetts to attend my first political event. But what made it even better was getting to sit next to my colleagues, feeling empowered as hell as some of our Youth Leaders got up on stage and shared testimony in front of state senators and representatives. - This year, we and several other organizations (including @raiseupma) are leading a campaign to get a $15 minimum wage (for adult and teen workers), guaranteed paid family medical leave, and a Fair Share tax amendment on the ballot in November. - I know I go on and on all the time about how inspired I am by our Youth Leaders, but that’s because I am literally inspired by them ALL the time. Especially when they get on stage, look a politician straight in the eye, and say stuff like “the Youth are the future of this country and we deserve a wage increase just as much as anyone else.” - Or lead the audience in a chant saying: “who’s got the power? We’ve
